About Jackie
"I wear different hats depending on the project—photographer, stylist, producer, collaborator, editor, teacher. I have two decades of professional photography experience with clients ranging from the neighborhood pub to Microsoft Corporation."
Jackie's background is in both high-tech and art. Photography is at the intersection of both that requires both precision with creative execution. In addition to taking images for her clients, she also teaches beginner/intermediate photographers. She can do 1:1 or group instruction, and teaches topics tailor-made to the client, such as composition or portraiture. Jackie’s images have appeared in publications such as Business Week, Food & Wine, Martha Stewart Living, Seattle Met, and Seattle Magazine.

Spice & Ink is a Seattle-based photography studio specializing in food, people, products, events, and spaces. Founded by Jackie Lynn Hoole, the studio brings a distinctive editorial eye and a passion for storytelling to every project.
With clients ranging from local restaurants and boutique brands to regional corporations, Spice & Ink delivers images that are both technically precise and emotionally resonant. The studio's name reflects Jackie's two great loves — the culinary world and the written word — and the belief that great photography, like great food and great writing, is all about layering flavors, textures, and meaning.
Spice & Ink is available for commercial, editorial, and personal photography projects throughout the Pacific Northwest and beyond.
Our Process
Connect
We chat. I learn your vision and get an idea of what is needed to produce this for you. We schedule a shoot date.
Preparation
I put together a plan including location(s), lighting, gear list. You put together details, such as a shot list or mood board.
The Shoot
Focused and collaborative. We'll review any shot lists and shots taken, and ensure your vision comes to life.
Delivery
A carefully edited and curated set of files uploaded into an online gallery for you to view, share, download, and print.
